We Love Wool (and Sheep, and Farmers!)

Wool is a wonder material. It has an environmental impact which is just a fraction of that of synthetic materials, it is long lasting, naturally anti-microbial (meaning it doesn’t smell like synthetic clothes), it’s super warm and comfortable, and it is completely naturally biodegradable. And what’s more the best modern sheep farmers are now raising their sheep in ways which actively help to restore and regenerate our natural world.

Most clothing brands only know about wool and farming from books, but at CC our sheep knowledge is gained first-hand. This week we welcome back our designer Alex, who has spent the past fortnight high up on the fells of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, battling high winds, lashing rain and a very grumpy northern mule, safely delivering 200 Texel Cross lambs on the family farm.

And whilst most brands are now trying to flog you spring and summer clothes, up north at least we’re still wearing jumpers, and we are still selling them (our non-seasonal model means you’ll always find the clothes you need, when you need them). Our jumpers are made from 100% pure wool (of course), spun in Denby Dale, West Yorkshire, just a short trip from Alex’s farm, and knitted by the best woollen mill in Hawick in the Scottish Borders (where they also know a thing or two about sheep, the cold, and rain).
